Disclaimer
Read this before acting on anything we publish
REMEDIESHEALTHFITNESS is a publication, not a medical provider. Nothing on remedieshealthfitness.com is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your own situation, and never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you read here.
We put that paragraph first, in bold, because it is the single most important thing on this page. Everything below explains what it means in practice.
What our content is, and is not
Our articles are general information and education: summaries of research, reporting on public health developments, explanations of fitness and nutrition principles, and honest examinations of remedies. They are written for a general audience, which means they cannot account for your medical history, your current medications, your allergies, your pregnancy status, your injuries or anything else that makes your body specifically yours. A qualified professional who can examine you and see your history can account for those things. That is the difference, and it is not a small one.
No doctor-patient, therapist-client or trainer-client relationship is created by reading this site, by commenting on it, or by emailing us. Our editors are journalists working from published evidence; they are not licensed to give, and will not give, individual medical advice.
Emergencies
If you think you or someone else may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately. Do not search this site, do not email us, do not finish the article. The same applies to mental health crises: if you are in danger of harming yourself, contact emergency services or a crisis line in your country now. Nothing on this site is built for, or capable of, helping in an emergency.
Specific cautions by topic
Remedies
We cover home and traditional remedies because people use them and deserve honest information, not because everything traditional is safe. “Natural” is not a safety rating. Herbal and home remedies can cause allergic reactions, interact with prescription medicines, and be dangerous in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, for children, or alongside particular conditions. When we report that a remedy has some supporting evidence, that is a statement about studies, not a recommendation for you. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before trying any remedy, especially if you take medication.
Fitness
Exercise carries risk of injury, and the right program depends on your health, age and condition. Get medical clearance before starting a new training program if you have a heart condition, are pregnant, are recovering from injury or illness, or have been sedentary for a long period. Stop and seek help if you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness or sharp pain during exercise. Form descriptions in our articles are general; they are not a substitute for in-person coaching.
Nutrition and supplements
Dietary changes that suit most people can be wrong for you, particularly with conditions like diabetes, kidney disease or eating disorder history. Supplements are lightly regulated in most jurisdictions, can be mislabelled, and can interact with medicines. We report the evidence on them as it stands; we do not vouch for any product, brand or dose.
Mental health
Our mental health coverage aims to inform and reduce stigma. It cannot assess you, and self-diagnosis from articles is unreliable in both directions. If your mood, anxiety or sleep is affecting your life, that is a reason to talk to a professional, whatever any article seems to suggest.
Evidence changes
Health research moves, and honest reporting of today’s evidence can be superseded by next year’s trial. We date our articles, update important guides, and log meaningful changes under our Corrections Policy, but at any given moment some article on this site is probably behind the newest study. The date on the page is part of the information; read it.
Third parties and affiliate links
Where we link to external sites, studies or products, we are pointing, not endorsing. Some product links are affiliate links, disclosed on the page, and described fully in Ownership and Funding. No commercial relationship changes what our articles say, and no product mention is a claim that the product is right for you.
The bottom line
Use this site to get informed, to understand the evidence, and to ask your own professionals better questions. That is what it is for, and it is genuinely useful for that. Just do not let anything here replace the person who can actually examine you. Questions about this disclaimer: support@remedieshealthfitness.com.
